Africa: Seals Broadcast Deal With Daar Communication

Lagos — The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) yesterday in Abuja handed out the broadcast rights of the Super Eagles and all the other national teams and DAAR Communication (owners of Africa Independent Television and Ray-power Radio) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was entered into yesterday ahead of the formal signing ceremony scheduled for next week Tuesday.

NFA Chairman Sani Lulu Abdullahi who handled proceedings at the Glass House yesterday shook hands with Chairman of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Anthony Aleogho Dokpesi and said: "This is a landmark and we are happy to consummate this relationship". Dokpesi and other DAAR Communications chieftains, including Mr Ladi Lawal and Mr Anthony Akiotu met with the NFA chairman Secretary General Bolaji Ojo-Oba and NFA marketing consultant Mike Itemuagbor to finally seal a deal that had been in the offing for a few weeks.

By the agreement, DAAR Communications shall be NFA's broadcast partners in the Super Eagles' category on free-to-air, worldwide and Pay TV except in Africa. The NFA has also conceded to DAAR Communications the rights to produce and broadcast matches involving the Home-based Super Eagles, National U-23 men's team, National U-20 men's team, National U-17 men's team, Beach Soccer team, Five-A-Side National team, Super Falcons and the National U-20 women's team, Falconets.

In conjunction with NFA and its marketing consultant Pamodzi, DAAR Communications has the right to organize friendly international games in Nigeria for the National teams, and as Sole Broadcaster can sub -license other media organizations where its coverage is not available.
