Worried by the dearth of insurance professionals from the Northern part of the country, insurance awareness in the region has remained a green land that is seeking keen attention of the entire insurance industry.

New Chairman of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Kaduna Chapter, Mr. Silas Bodams made the assertion during his investiture along with 15 other new executives of the chapter

According to him, "The entire Northern Nigeria is still a fertile ground for insurance awareness creation. The issues are ignorance and misconception".

He said the new executives would deploy Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Media Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Northern Nigeria Development Corporation (NNDC) and a dedicated insurance help line to achieve that feat.

Bodams said that the Kaduna chapter to pursue to cardinal objectives namely: Public awareness and human capital development.

The task before us is to begin to build an army of reasonably informed members of the public in insurance matters who can challenge and question how insurance is practiced. These are the change agents that will affect the public perception of insurance.

He promised that the Kaduna chapter of the CIIN would during the tenure of his team work with Northern Nigerian Development Corporation (NNDC), Northern Professionals Forum and Structured Tutorials.

He noted that only Northern Nigeria needs a good number of insurance professionals to help achieve the laudable objective of sufficient insurance awareness in that region.

CIIN President, Mr. Adeyemo Adejumo who corroborated the new chairman of CIIN Kaduna Chapter said it is also pertinent that investiture ceremony provides a veritable ground for reinvigorating the branch machinery of the institute while also ensuring that leadership opportunities present themselves to willing and able members of the insurance profession who are in a position to dissipate their energies in the right direction.

Let me assure you that Kaduna branch has continued to play a pivotal role as one of the examination centres in the Northern zone. We are happy that a good number of students are taking advantage of Kaduna examination centre and the study centre to acquire professional insurance education which has become indispensable for career progression .
