STAFFING solutions provider Adcorp Holdings expects to benefit from government's proposed R611bn infrastructure spend as companies hire thousands of staff members at a time.

Government's gross domestic fixed investments projects -- estimated to be worth R611bn until 2011 by Old Mutual Investment Group -- are expected to require that companies skill up, said Adcorp CEO Richard Pike. Investment is expected to have a "big impact on the industry".

Eskom, which is expected to require 5000 staff members in the next six months, will spend R200bn on new power stations and related infrastructure to bolster capacity by an additional 22000MW by 2017, up from the present 36000MW.

Other government departments are also investing in infrastructure ranging from dams to soccer stadiums.

Pike said that the South African Revenue Service was expected to skill up with 4000 staff members and construction firm Murray & Roberts may need up to 30000 staff if it wins several tenders. Oil and gas company Sasol is also expected to need to raise its staff compliment by about 18000.

Adcorp, which has both permanent and flexible staffing divisions, uniquely offers mass recruitment drives, Pike said. The group's mass recruitment offerings, which contributed 4% of its R284,5m in operating profit in the 14 months to February, is expected to benefit as corporations require several thousand staff members to skill up.

In addition, the group will be able to source talent offshore through two acquisitions. It recently acquired Staff U Need for R210m and Capital Outsourcing in the previous period.
