Family of late Major--General Abdulkarim Adisa, former Minister of Works and Housing, is contesting ownership of one of his estates with an occupant of the property.
Adisa's first son, Abidemi Adisa, has gone to the Abuja Upper Area Court in Gudu District, to contest ownership of House 5, 124 Road, Kado Estate, Abuja, with Hajiya Farida.
He is also contesting ownership of a Nissan Bluebird Car and a Cold-room with Farida, disputing Farida's claim that his father transferred ownership of the estate and other items to her while he was serving as a minister.
He averred that the deceased owned many estates, including the disputed property, adding that his father had no matrimonial relationship with the defendant and never transferred any property to her.
He said Farida was just a contractor taking advantage of a renovation contract given to her by his father, to lay claim to the property. The plaintiff said efforts made to retrieve the property from the accused had proved abortive.
Meanwhile, Mr Mohamed Shuaib, the defendant's counsel, sent an application asking the court to transfer the case to another court within the jurisdiction. In the application, Shuaib said his client did not have confidence in the Gudu court anymore and was not sure the case would be decided in her favour.
|
The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, however, dismissed theapplication, saying the lawyer should have come to court to make a verbal application, instead of sending it through thecourt registrar. He adjourned the case to May 27, for continuation of hearing.
