Ilorin — Dare devil armed robbers yesterday invaded the residence of the former governor of Kwara State, late Alhaji Muhammad Lawal, carting away valuable goods running into several millions of naira.
The robbers, numbering 10 , also beat to a pulp one of the former governor's sons (names withheld ) who is now recuperating in one of the priavte hospitals in Ilorin, the state capital .
THISDAY gathered that the robbers gained entrance through the main gate of the house located at the Government Reservation Area along Gaa Akanbi road , Ilorin around 7.00 pm and ransacked the entire building before making away with their loot.
However, one of the late former Governor's son (name withheld) who was attacked by the robbers told newsmen that the robbers invaded the villa at about 7 pm on Monday night. Contacted yesterday, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tunde Muhammad confirmed the development, saying that the state police command has taken over the full investigations of the case so as to unravel those that perpetrated the incident .
