Lubango

Some 124 cases of sexual transmitted diseases (STDs) were diagnosed, from January to April this year, in the southern Huíla Province, by the local health authorities.

According to the Lubango City's central hospital head of the department for sexually transmitted diseases and external consultations, Teresa Moreira Rasga, from this number, 60 men and 64 women have been diagnosed, including four pregnant women aged between 18 to 40 years old.

Teresa Rasga highlighted syphilis and gonorrhoea to be the most frequent infections.

The lack of specialised technicians has been the main concern, seizing the opportunity to appeal to the provincial health department to pay a special attention to the sector's training staffs.
