Member of Parliament for Buvuma Islands, William Nsubuga has come out in support of Aruu County MP, Odonga Otto's allegations that MPs took a Shs170 million bribe as inducement to approve the Chogm supplementary budget.

Mr Nsubuga's name came up during Aswa County MP, Reagan Okumu testimony before the Rules, Priviledges and Discipline committee, which is investigating the bribery claims. Mr Okumu claimed Mr Nsubuga filed a complaint with him.

Mr Okumu chairs the Public Accounts sub committee that probes corruption in government institutions. "As chair of the PAC subcommittee, I was approached by Mr Nsubuga (asking me) to investigate allegations that committee chairpersons and their deputies were given money to approve the Chogm supplementary budget," Mr Okumu said.

Mr Nsubuga is among six MPs accused of taking the bribe but he told Daily Monitor that he is neither a chairperson nor a deputy chairperson; "and this exonerates me. The truth shall come out," he promised.

Mr Okumu told the members that the money was channelled through the National Economy chairperson, Haji Lubega Kaddunnabi (Butambala).
