An Entebbe Municipality worker last Saturday narrowly survived being killed by angry residents of Kiwafu East in Entebbe, who accused him of destroying their crops worth millions of shillings as he was grading a new road.

The worker, who wasn't identified, was grading a road provided by Entebbe Municipal authorities to replace part of Akiiki Nyabongo Road that was sold to a private investor to expand her school.

One of the residents who preferred anonymity fearing to be arrested by council authorities, said, Entebbe Municipal council sold the road they were using to Ms Rosemary Omumtekel without consulting them.

He said the investor blocked the road and the council decided to provide an alternative route in a plot belonging to Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC).

He said the council destroyed their crops and did not compensate them.

The MP for Entebbe Municipality, Mr Mohammed Kawuma had earlier written to the commissioner of Lands requesting him to intervene and stop the rampant sale of roads in Entebbe by the Municipal Council.

He said, Entebbe Municipal authorities sold off Akiiki Nyabongo Road in Kiwafu East, Kasirye Road in Kiwafu Central and Botanical Drive near Entebbe Botanical Gardens.

The Town Clerk, Mr Joseph Kimbowa said they had realigned the road to develop the area.
