On 8 May 2008, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Guinea, Alfred Saury Guilarogui, and two of his officers stormed Nostalgie FM, a privately-owned radio station in Conakry and forcibly interrupted the station's broadcasting.
Media Foundation for West Africa's (MFWA) correspondent reported that the station at the time was broadcasting an interview of a businessman, Mamadou Sylla, which was highly critical of Prime Minister Lansana Kouyate and the government.
The men confiscated the recording of the interview and subsequently gave it to Mamadou Beau Keita, the Minister of Interior and National Security, who was alleged to have ordered the break in transmission.
Meanwhile, the President of the National Communications Counsil (CNC), Tibou Camara, has condemned the action of the authorities and is calling on them to return the confiscated tape.
