FORMER national pugilists Sharif Bogere and Phillip Adyak who vanished from the world championships last year have started professional careers in the US.

Lightweight and former national captain, Bogere, started with a first round knockout over American Ed Lee Humes in Kansas last month, while bantamweight Phillip Adyak lost.

Bogere and Adyak disappeared from the Uganda team camp at the World Boxing Championships in Chicago last year.

Bogere added another win over Reymundo Hernandez. He will next meet Ryan Ellul in Arizona on June 14.

Adyak lost his debut professional fight to Richardo Hernandez in January.

Meanwhile former IBF junior middleweight champion Kassim "The Dream" Ouma has dropped out of the latest WBC 154-pound division ratings.

For the first time, the Ugandan prize fighter has not been rated. He has been overlooked by the world boxing body because of his recent defeat to Cornelius Bunderage.
