THE Private Sector Foundation and MTN are organising to hold a special importers abd exporters trade exhibition. Dubbed "Making it Easier to Trade Locally and Across Borders," the fair would be held on June 27 at the Uganda Manufacturers Association Main Hall at Lugogo, Kampala.

John Ssempebwa, the private sector's director for trade, explained that the exhibition was aimed at reinforcing the traders' relationship with their service providers.

This, he said, would bring about mutual benefits. Ssempebwa said importers and exporters faced several non-tariff barriers. He said this had impacted on Uganda's export abilities.

"Non-tariff barriers have increased in spite of the East African Community resolution to completely eliminate them," Ssempebwa said.

Sheila Kangwagye, the MTN publicist, said their Home and Away product, was ideal for importers and exporters.

She added that the service would help the over 1,000 private sector members to stay in touch with their business contacts without having to pay additional roaming charges.

Kangwagye explained that the partnership was one way for them to continue supporting local businesspeople.
