The former governor of Ekiti State , Mr Ayo Fayose yesterday petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mike Okiro, where he raised an alarm over alleged plot by the agents of the state government to attack and eliminate him.

But in a swift reaction, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the governor, Mr Moses Jolayemi dismissed the allegation as a figment of the imagination of the author.

Fayose in the petition, which he personally signed, copy of which was made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, pointed out that he became a subject of attack of the state government because of his recent press statements, where he declared that Engr Segun Oni did not win the April 14, 2007 governorship election.'

'I wish to raise an alarm that the Ekiti State Government have concluded plans to attack me and possibly kill me in view of my stance on the illegal activities of the government with particular reference to the illegally constituted State Electoral Commission and the fact that I claimed that Dr. Kayode Fayemi of AC won the April 14th election to which I am entitled to my opinion."

Fayose, who insisted on the allegation said, part of the game plan of the government was to stop him from coming to Ekiti State and make further statement that may affect government negatively.

According to the former governor, besides the attempt to kill him, virtually all his properties located in both Ado-Ekiti and Afao, his homestead, have been marked down to be set ablaze by some hoodlums, who are to carry out the operation at unholy hours of the day.

"My Afao, Ado Ekiti GRA residence has been marked to be damaged and subsequently burnt down in the night of Friday the 16th of May 2008 by these hoodlums."

Also, he alleged further in the petition that all his water tankers and other properties that have inscriptions of Fayose are to be torched at special locations in various parts of the state.

"These hoodlums are equally been organized to attack me during my next visit to Ekiti that belongs to us all claiming I am a thorn in the flesh,"Fayose maintained. He, therefore, charged the police and other security operatives not to treat "my alarm" with levity in view of the turbulent political situation in Ekiti which, he said, has calumniated in a recent shooting of innocent citizens during the House of Assembly fracas and burning of vehicles of others political opponents in time past.
