Netcom Africa Plc, leading provider of satellite and wireless products has pioneered another achievement in the industry by becoming the first company in Africa to receive the TL9000 certification.

The certification was obtained from the British Standards Institute (BSI), an accredited QUEST Forum TL 9000 registrar.

The TL 9000 standards is an extension of the International Standards Organization's (ISO) 9001 standards that incorporates defining a set of quality measurements and additional requirements specifically for telecommunications companies.

The certification is the telecommunications industry's worldwide standard that establishes a common set of quality management requirements and measurements for telecommunications hardware, software and services.

Achieving certification indicates that all the business functions of Netcom Africa, which includes, infrastructure building, technology implementation, product development, technical support, sales and marketing among others adhere to stringent worldwide standards and processes to ensure a consistent high-quality experience for end-users.

Speaking on the recent certification, the CEO of Netcom Africa Mr. Sean Hsu said "the only factor that had previously limited Africa 's development, compared with the rest of the world is its standard of quality".

Netcom Africa, by being the first and currently the only company in Africa to obtain this certification, Hsu said Netcom has set the precedence for increased expansion and penetration of African businesses across continents.

The certification, he said will give international companies who had previously discussed the limitations in finding vendors for their communication requirements the assurance that there is a local operator with not only the technical know-how, but with a worldwide recognised qualification.

"The achievement is the culmination of months of hard work, to ensure that the quality management system for the company is developed and maintained to meet worldwide standards" Hsu said.

Lolade Shonubi, Marketing Consultant for the company added that the feat of obtaining TL9000 certification represents the company's commitment to consistently maintain a worldwide standard of quality.

"At Netcom, we remain firmly committed to our client base, and will continue to raise the bar of excellence in the industry with continued improvements according to the TL9000 standard".
