Sullivan Foundation co-chairman Carlton Masters is impressed by Tanzania's preparations of the eight Leon Sullivan Summit due in Arusha next month.
"The preparations are encouraging - with the organising committee chaired by the chief secretary.
There is also a lot of publicity out there," he said in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
He praised President Jakaya Kikwete for applying for Tanzania to host the event.
He hopes Tanzania and the whole of Africa will benefit from the summit which starts on June 2.
Sullivan summits are meant to bring Africans in Diaspora to Africa to exchange views with others.
Such summits are among ways which enable African countries to attract foreign investors.
"What happens is that African Americans first come with their families just as they will come during the summit.
They will engage themselves into discussions with Tanzanians and at the end of the day, some of them will be coming back with their money," he said.
The Arusha summit will give the Tanzanian businesses opportunities to expand their markets and seek joint ventures from African American business executives who will take part in the meeting.
The event is expected to attract 3,000 people - 500 of them major African American businesspeople.
There will also be participants from Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and various African countries.
"African Americans spend a combined $900 billion annually.
They are big spenders and the country's entrepreneurs stand to benefit through selling their products to some of these big spenders," he said.
