Kuito — Angolan deputy minister of Public Works, Armindo Copingo, Wednesday in Kuito, central Bie province, expressed satisfaction at the pace of the works of rehabilitation of the local Joaquim Kapango airport.
Speaking to the press in Kuito, the deputy minister said the works intended to prepare the airport to receive small and large airplanes as from June this year, are going at a satisfactory pace.
He also said the quality of the works is acceptable, which will enable the airport to receive planes of all sizes, from companies interested to operate in the region, particularly the country's airlines (TAAG).
On the other hand, he appealed to the National Demining Institute (INAD) and other concerned institutions in the province to speed up their work in the areas surrounding the runway, as a means to facilitate Paviterra's operation.
The works of rehabilitation of the Joaquim Kapango's airport 2,5000-meter long runway is estimated at Usd 14 million.
