Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Cândida Celeste da Silva, is since Wednesday in central Huambo province to chair the celebrations of the International Day of Families, May 15.

Accompanied by high ranking official of her office, during the event the minister will transmit a message appealing for cohesion and unity within the families, besides discussing the fight against domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, poverty, Hiv/Aids and other factors that affect the Angolan families.

Before departure at Luanda airport, Cândida Celeste told Angop that after the celebrations of the Day of Families, the Ministry will hold its 11th National Council on Families that will analyse the current situation of the families and help them settle their problems.

The council is part of the events on National Family that started on May 5, going until Thursday (May 15), with the celebration of the International Day of Families going under the theme "Family and Citizenship".
