The organizing committee of the newly formed Liberia Labour Congress (LLC) has commended Labour Minister Samuel Kofi Woods and the Labour Ministry family for relocating the Ministry to a permanent site on the United Nations Drive in Central Monrovia.
The LLC delegation representing the two main trade union organizations including the Liberia Federation of Laour Unions (LFLU) and the Congress for National Trade Union of Liberia (CONATUL) made the commendation Monday when they toured the new offices of the Labour Ministry.
The spokesperson for the unionists, David Sackor said they were impressed with the development and transformation that the Ministry has undergone in a short period under the leadership of Minister Woods.
During the tour of the ministry's facilities, several workers and staff expressed delight over the acquisition of two new buses by the administration to convey workers to and from work daily.
The Labour Ministry employees also alluded to what they referred to as "new work ethics" that have been introduced curtailing extortion and other unwholesome practices.
For his part, Minister Woods noted that the Ministry is prepared to carry out its mandate and promised to decentralize the operation of its activities by strenghtening the local offices in the leeward counties.
He indicated that the Ministry of Labour is committed to also strenghtening the capacity of workers organizations through social dialogue and admitted that a lot more needs to be done to effectively serve the Liberian people.
Minister Woods then cautioned the workers throughout the country to respect the rule of law, saying "it is always good to do what is right."

"In the pursuit of reforms, it is not expected that everyone will appreciate changes, but I will not be deterred by those who intend to reverse the progress," He added.
