Angola: Huambo - Govt Official Highlights Role of Compulsory Social Protection

The minister of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, Pitra Neto highlighted this Thursday, in Huambo city, the efforts being implemented by the National Social Security Institute towards the compulsory social protection.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a provincial technical workshop, Pitra Neto informed that the compulsory social protection is a vital aspect not only for the improvement of the social conditions of citizens without capacity to work actively, but also to grant a worthy reform to all those who have been carrying out their labour activity.
"The efforts of the government, of the national economy and of social security services, have this purpose that interact with the social and sustainable growth followed with a strong sense of solidarity of social justice", he exalted.
To the Social Security minister, the holding of this seminar will enable to inform the participants on the series of legal measures aimed at expanding the coverage of citizens who should feel protected by the compulsory social security, the means of linking these services to citizens and study the methods of better criteria increase and consisting of social benefits granted to the retired.
"I hope that this event can discuss the strategies for a better expansion of the programme of improving and development of the compulsory social protection", stressed the official.
On the other hand, Pitra Neto said that he travelled to the province to grant better working conditions to local employees of the National Social Security Institute, with the inauguration of a new building, as well as upgrade local staff.

The two-day technical seminar will discuss the law on social protection, approved and published by the National Assembly of 15 October 2004 and its respective regulating tools.
