Angola: Cunene - Over 90,000 Children Immunised Against Polio

About 91,043 children from zero to five years of age shall be immunised from May 16 to 18 against children paralysis, during the first phase of the national campaign against poliomyelitis in southern Cunene province.

Speaking to ANGOP this Thursday, the head of social mobilisation of the Broad Vaccination Programme (PAV) in Cunene, Ângela Ndanhanhala stressed that awareness campaigns within the communities have been carried out for the vaccination of children.

For this purpose, he explained that about 100,000 doses of vaccines have been made available and were already distributed to districts. From the children to be vaccinated, he referred that 81,939 shall receive vitamin "A" and the other 72,834 will receive the parasite cleansing drug "Albendasol".

According to her, all organisational conditions for the success of the campaign have been created.
