Kampala

State Minister for Microfinance, General Salim Saleh will crown Ndejje University's 2007 Sportsman of the Year at a gala scheduled for May 18 at the institution's main campus in Luweero.

University Sports Tutor Paul Mark Kayongo said they will be celebrating the numerous sports achievements achieved during the year.

He singled out the 12th Inter University Games that took place at Uganda Christian University in Mukono at which Ndejje scooped five of the 26 gold medals at stake in a tight race in which they scooped second place overall as one of the achievements to behold.

Ndejje's national javelin thrower Patrick Kibwota set a new Personal Best record at the Games that saw him qualify for the Africa Championships that recently concluded in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Kibwota narrowly missed a bronze medal at the Africa event, setting a new PB and was Uganda's best performer.
