Angola: Huambo - Family Minister Inaugurates Females Development Centre

Longonjo

The specialised centre for training of females dubbed "Teresa Ngueve Development Centre" was inaugurated this Thursday, in the district headquarters, 60 kilometres from the capital of central Huambo province, by the minister of Family and Women Promotion, Cândida Celeste da Silva, in the light of the festivities of May 15, International Family Day.

The centre has an assistance residence, computer room, sewing, cooking and English.

The works are under the Angolan construction company TEJOFLO, for a period of 24 months and cost the State coiffeurs over 12 million Angolan Kwanza, part of the programme of increase and improvement of the supply of basic social services to the population.

The management board of the centre informed that apart from training women from Longonjo district, the institution will also upgrade others from local neighbouring areas and those interested.

At the occasion, the Family minister said that the inauguration results from the efforts that the Angolan government have been inserting in all sectors of the country's society, with view to improve the living conditions of the population and mainly of disadvantaged families.

Minister Celeste is in Huambo province since Wednesday morning leading a delegation made up by government officials, MPs, national and provincial directors of the Family and Women Promotion Ministry, social partners and invited guests, with the aim presiding over the Main Event of the International Family Day, May 15, in Longonjo district.
