Luanda — Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Cândida Celeste, Thursday in Luanda, appealed to the heads of family and adults to be more responsible in the education of children, by transmitting to them teachings and positive values.
In a message on the occasion of the International Day of Families, May 15, the minister said that heads of family and adults also have the duty to protect the most needy, mainly the adults, providing them with more attention and tender.
To Cândida Celeste, peace in a country starts within the family from which the important values of life like dignity, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation and other qualities required for the individual formation and social cohesion are inherited.
The minister underlined that, on this date, there is need to highlight the importance of the family in the promotion of the human being and its dignity towards the construction of a society of justice and solidarity.
"The celebration of this date every year has as its purpose to draw the attention of the Government, local officials and the world to the importance of the family as the vital nucleus of the society and to its rights and duties," she stated.
According to the minister, the family constitutes a fundamental element in the identification of social problems and drafting of policies and political decision programmes.
For this reason, she added, the Family events in Angola is going under the motto "Family and Citizenship".
Cândida Celeste stressed that the country is going through special moments with the attainment of peace and consolidation of democracy whose highest point will be the holding of legislative election in September this year, and appealed to the Angolan families to actively participate in the poll.
For this year's celebrations, the World Family Organisation has adopted the motto "Peace and Families: Responsibilities and Challenges". Angop/net/rod
