The national soccer team, Taifa Stars, arrived in Kampala yesterday afternoon for their return leg match against Uganda in the qualifiers for the newly introduced African Nations Cup for domestic players.

Stars arrived at Entebbe International Airport in fine weather, only to be put off by the hotel they had been booked in by their hosts in a dusty and noisy area of the Ugandan capital.

Team manager Leopold "Tasso" Mukebezi protested at the substandard accommodation but Federation of Uganda Football Associations vice-president Athumani Luboa refused to move the team to another hotel.

The full line up of players and officials are: Adam Kingwande, Amir Maftah, Athumani Idd, Emmanuel Gabriel, Farouk Ramadhan, Fredy Mbuna, Geoffrey Bony, Ivo Mapunda, Jerryson Tegete, Juma Jabu, Kelvin Yondani, Kigi Makasi and Mrisho Ngasa.

Others are Nadir Haroub (skipper), Salum Swedi, Shaban Nditi, Shadrack Nsajigwa, Stephano Mwasika, Uhuru Suleiman and Ulimboka Mwakingwe.

Officials accompanying the team are TFF secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela, vice-president Crescentius Magori, Mukebezi, Marcio Maximo (coach), Ali Bushiri (assistant coach), Itamar Amorim and Juma Sufiani (physician).

The players proceeded to train session at a dusty football pitch within Kampala city premises.

Head coach Maximo said he is here to win and nothing short of that.

"We are here to win the second half of the match after finishing the first half in Mwanza a fortnight ago", said Maximo.

Magori said Stars would only take this morning's breakfast at the allocated hotel and thereafter an alternative hotel would be sought.

Assistant coach Bushiri said all the players are in good shape and he is expecting to field Ivo Mapunda in tomorrow's line up against the Cranes.

Mapunda served a six-month ban imposed by his club (Young Africans) that rendered him unavailable for Stars until he was set free recently.

Skipper Nadir Haroub said all the players are in good shape for the crucial showdown tomorrow. Stars won the first leg
