Freetown — Finish Refugee Council (FRC) yesterday commenced a week-long intensive training for its partners in Koinadugu district north of Sierra Leone.

Director of FRC Rashid Bah said the purpose of the workshop was to train its partners on project writing and implementation.

He said his organization is currently implementing two projects in the country including the adult literacy and youth empowerment projects.

Bah said the youths' empowerment project would learn rural youths' trade in carpentry, masonry, tailoring et al.

He affirmed that the projects were being implemented through local non governmental organizations, community based organizations, vocational institutes and the media to adequately sensitize people on the contents and need for the two projects.

Bah said the project which started in 2003 has been operating in Koinadugu for over a year now and revealed that the project was previously based in the south-east, targeting refugees but has been extended to other parts of the country.

Facilitators included lecturers from the Institute of Public Administration and Management in Freetown.
