Monrovia

The Rock Town Development Association (RDA) based in Monrovia has expressed concern over the eruption of violence between citizens of Klemonweh and Nyemonweh Chiefdoms in Maryland County as a result of a land dispute.

RDA said as a consequence of the violence, injuries were reported on both side. The group said it is saddened by this troubling development and expressed regrets over the incident.

According to a release, RDA registered its disappointment for the perpetual lack of political will exhibited by the Legislative Caucus, County Administration, including the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Lands, Mines and Energy, to have accorded this matter the urgency and timeliness it deserved.

The release added that the recent violence was a result of several acts of lawlessness such as seizure of canoes and farming materials, as well as obstruction of free movement perpetrated by certain unscrupulous individuals.

Though belated, the RDA says it welcomes the decision of the government to dispatch a team to Harper, Maryland County to ascertain the facts and circumstances that led to the unfortunate event.
