The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ecobank-Liberia, Mrs. Morenike Adepoju says her institution is in Liberia to make a difference in the banking sector.

She said Ecobank-Liberia would help to empower Liberian entrepreneurs so that they can contribute towards the growth of their economy.

The Ecobank CEO said her institution was prepared to provide good and modern banking services to the people of Liberia.

Mrs. Adepoju made the comment Tuesday when The NEWS Newspaper presented a Certificate of Recognition to Ecobank as "Investment Institution Of the Year 2007." The presentation ceremony was held at the Ecobank's head office at the corner of Randall and Ashmun Streets in Monrovia.

Mrs. Adepoju said Ecobank-Liberia would provide credible and reliable banking services to Liberia and the rest of Africa.

She disclosed that Ecobank was presently operating in 23 countries and is touching the lives of people of those countries in order for them to be productive and resourceful citizens.

She said the bank would extend its activities to every corner of Africa in the coming years.

The Ecobank Boss then commended The NEWS for recognizing it as investment institution of the year and said her institution sees the honor as a calling to strive forward and succeed in its endeavors.

Mrs. Adepoju: "This honor, I must admit came as a surprise but we whole heartedly appreciate and accept it."

Earlier, the Editor-in-Chief of The NEWS, Sheriff Z. Adams who presented the certificate on behalf of the paper said Ecobank over the years have made tremendous progress in the country especially by extending its services to other parts of the country.

He said by extending its services, the bank was encouraging people in rural areas to build confidence in the banking sectors.
