Indomitable Lions head coach, German-born Otto Pfister, Monday, May 12, made public a list of 26 players for preparations for the upcoming South Africa and Angola 2010 joint World Cup and ACN eliminatories.
In the list are 7 new comers into the Lions' den.According to a preparatory programme of Pfister, the Lions are due to begin training on May 23 in Congo-Brazzaville.
The Lions begin the South Africa and Angola campaigns on Saturday, May 31 with the Republic of Cape Verde at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.Amongst the greenhorns Pfister invited are attackers in the likes of Eric Maxim Choupo Moting, 19, of German club, Hambourg SV and Marcel Ndjeng, 26, of another German side Borussia - Mönchengladbach.
Pfister thrusted his invitation to some players who have made their name in the local league before going professional but have never visited the lions den like; Guy Stéphane Essame, Gustave Bebbe Mbangue, Alexis Ngambi, Christian Pouga and Sadjo Haman.
However one of the new players Bebbe Mbangue, who was invited for the Cameroon versus Equatorial Guinea last and 6th qualifying game for Ghana 2008 on September 8, 2007 in Malabo, has once more been invited.
The rest of the players are house household names in the den, except for Janvier Mbarga the only home based player who participated in the Ghana 2008 expedition.Conspicuously absent in the lists are Benoit Angbwa and Idrissou Mohamadou who were in Ghana for ACN 2008. Also, Achille Kwamou Webo, who missed the Ghana 2008 football fiesta due to injury made his come back, alongside Eric Matoukou.
