Alliance Francaise de Kampala (AFK) and the Uganda German Cultural Society (UGCS) will give another unknown but talented Ugandan fine artist a platform to showcase his work this Friday starting 6p.m.
Imran Azad's Illusions will run from May 16 - 30 at the AFK/UGCS home on 62 Bukoto Street, Kamwokya and his work mostly expresses the African daily life through imagination and fiction. Azad's work mostly comprises oil paint on canvas, acrylic on paper and charcoal on paper. He uses a mixture of colours to portray his own imagination.
Azad was born at the Kilembe Mines Hospital, Kasese in 1976. His love and passion for art developed at a very young age. "It was in nursery school that I did my ever first drawing of an N3 Fiat truck whose name I did not know at the time," says Azad.
His great inspiration comes from one of his family members who encouraged him to try out anything he could lay his eyes upon until he started trying out drawing pictures from his own imagination. This made his struggle quite a bit as he fought to reconcile his hands with his brain.
After struggling for many years, he finally managed to find that perfect harmony between the two. Today, Imran develops and achieves his work with a style he calls imaginative art that he now loves to combine with urban themes and graphs. Entrance to the exhibition is free.
