Abuja — The Minister for Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation Mr. Mike Aondoakaa (SAN), has said that government would prosecute any individual found culpable of corruption in the past administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Mr. Aondoakaa who said this in Makurdi at the opening ceremony of the conference of Attorneys-General of the federation and the States, declaredthat; "nobody is above the law and so, anybody who runs foul of the law will not be spared, no matter how highly placed".

He added that any former or serving public official that is implicated or charged with any criminal wrongdoing, would be prosecuted. He frowned that the country is confronted daily by embarrassing and shameful revelations on corruption stressing that the stark reality of the nation's past indicates that despite the presence of the EFCC and ICPC, the country was plundered mercilessly by political office holders and other categories of public officers without due regard to decency, morality and the fear of God. The AGF who harped on President Yar'Adua's administration commitment to the 7-point agenda further said they are determined to wage a total war on corruption. He urged the various prosecutorial agencies to be alert and awake to their responsibilities of fighting this monster. He lamented the unfortunate trend in the country where tenants are subjected to compulsory payments of excessive rents by landlords describing the act as a great disservice to our attempt at a building just and humane society.
