Minister of labour, Dr. Hassan Mohammed Lawal has cautioned the management of banks in the country against casualisation of workers, as the ministry will no longer tolerate any organisation that does not abide with the labour standards in the sector.

Dr. Lawal who stated this while speaking with the representatives of both the management and the unions in his office said, "any attempt to go contrary to the agreement reached by both the management and the unions will always result to conflict which may lead to anarchy in the workplace".

The minister who was represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry of labour, Alhaji Suleman D. Kassim noted that the issues at stake between the two parties are non-dedication and remittance of check-off dues and casualisation of workers, adding that both parties must abide with the labour standards and best practices in the sector.

He enjoined the two parties in the sector to embrace dialogue as a way of resolving any conflict, adding that the problem in the country today was lack of union involvement in decision making and implementation process.

He lamented that the labour ministry was not comfortable when any organisation suffers industrial crisis due to spill over effect on the society at large.
