Luanda — At least 172,365 children from zero to five years old have been vaccinated against polio in Maianga district, during the first phase of national vaccination campaigns for 2008, held on May 16, 17 and 18, throughout the country.
According to the head of municipal health section, Maria José, in this campaign the minors also received vitamin "A" and albendazol to cleanse worms.
The official said that the campaign was satisfactory as it overcame the initial goal of 170,018 children, thanks to the engagement of municipal authorities, resident commissions, JMPLA, religious and traditional entities, as well as students from Colégio Jacimar.
