Cameroon: Military Headquarters - Regional Conviviality Reigns

F.V.

21 May 2008

During the dinner offered by the Minister Delegate at the presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence to the Cameroonian military on the occasion of the 36th national day celebrations at the grand refectory of the headquarters' brigade in Yaounde, there was an exchange of gifts between the Chiefs of staff of the Equatorial Guinea military, Innoncencio Ngomo Ondo and his Cameroonian counterpart, Rene Claude Meka.

The exchange of gifts is proof of the good relations between Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon aimed at reinforcing the spirit of regional integration among CEMAC member countries. In honour of the Equatorial Guinea military delegation to Cameroon the army band that was animating the occasion, dished out a tune composed by an artiste from Equatorial Guinea while resident in Cameroon, Maele, to the joy of Equatorial Guinea nationals who were present at the occasion.

It is worth mentioning that for some time now, foreign troops from the central African region have been taking part in the national day celebrations of Cameroon.

Last year, Chadian troops took part in the 35th national day celebrations of Cameroon and this year it was the turn of Equatorial Guinea. The minister of defence was accompanied on the occasion by top military officials, friends and family members of military officials among a host of other soldiers.
