The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon last Saturday in Gabon succeeded in turning the tables in the ongoing African cup of nations for home-based players. Beaten in the away leg in Yaounde, 1-2, many thought Cameroon's chances in the competition had been compromised.

This was without counting on the popular adage in Cameroon that 'impossible is not Cameroonian', as the Lions scored two goals in the last quarter of the match to qualify for the last eliminatory round of the competition. The goals were got for Cameroon by Kingue Mpondo and Eric Yopa.

The surprise victory of the Lions in Gabon last Saturday irritated the Gabonese to the extent that they attacked their players after the match causing their French born coach, Alain Giresse to threaten abandoning his job.

Cameroon will therefore slug it out at the last qualifying round with the Democratic Republic of Congo who though beaten by their brothers of the other side of the Congo River, 1-2, to qualify on count of their 3-0 victory in the away leg.
