An international accord on coffee production and commercialisation was signed last Monday, in London, between Angola and the United Kingdom, aimed at re-launching the cooperation in this field between the two countries.

According to a note received by ANGOP, the general director of the National Coffee Institute, João Ferreira, states that the agreement will follow the normal procedures that lead to its ratification by the Angolan government.

He also stresses that one of the advantages of the accord is to facilitate a coffee trade between Angola and the United Kingdom, in the ambit the International Coffee Organisation (ICO).

Angola is a co-founding member of the Inter-African Coffee Organisation (IACO), whose headquarters are in Abidjan, Cote d´Ivoire, and is equally a co-founding member of the ICO, which was created in 1963.
