Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club players have pulled out of the second leg of the 2008 International Tennis Federation/Confederation of African Tennis Open championship that gets underway in Nairobi today.

The players pulled out due to lack of sponsorship that has crippled their capability to compete in the money circuit event for East and Central African players.

DGC's tennis captain Inger Njau confirmed the unfortunate development.

One of players, Salum Mvita said they were now focusing on competing in the third leg of the circuit set for DGC on May 29 through June.

Tanzania players also missed the opening leg held in Addis Ababa between May 15 and 28.

The event will involve men and ladies singles and doubles, ladies singles, veteran singles and mixed doubles.

The prize package for the Dar leg has been set at $800 for the men singles winner and $600 for the ladies' singles winner.
