Kinondoni team officials carry their legislator Idd Azan shoulder high after their team eliminated star-studded Mbeya regional side by 2-0 goals at the National Studium in Dar es salaam yesterday. Kinondoni cruised into Taifa Cup final set for Saturday.

KInondoni Municipal soccer team outclassed star-studded Mbeya side by two Beckham type goals yesterday saw the Kinondoni municipal soccer team reach the final of the Taifa Cup tourney on Saturday, defeating Mbeya 2-0.

The Kinondoni side will be meeting the winner of today's second semifinal encounter, when Ilala meet Arusha. Kinondoni outplayed a well drilled Mbeya regional team by its two goals without response, both scored in the first half. The Kinondoni side had players that aren't among the more familiar premier league players, yet managed to hold the polished Mbeya side for most of the first half. Shock gripped the upcountry side just after eleven minutes when Ben Kitangila's glancing header off Sino Augustino's cross opened the score for Kinondoni. Aman George increased the tally after 36 minutes through a spectacular header off Sino Augustino's floating cross ball, once again. The Mbeya side was reduced to ten men after referee Judith Gamba sent off Yonah Ndabila for a blatant foul two minutes after Kinondoni's second goal. Kinondoni was a relieved side as they went to the dressing rooms with a two goals lead.

A diminished Mbeya side started the second half aggressively as their striker Misango Magai managed to penetrate the Kinondoni defence but his shot was off target after 55 minutes. However, Kinondoni was the better side as they continued to torment Mbeya with sporadic attacks in search of a third goal but to no avail. Aman George dodged Mbeya defender Aloyce Adam and shot narrowly wide with only keeper Exavier Mapunda to beat on 63 minutes.
