Lagos — As more Nigerians embrace e-payment solutions, Konnectronics in keeping with its promise is helping to prepare Nigerians for the evolving digital economy by convening the 2008 Nigerian EMV Summit.
A statement made available to THISDAY disclosed that some of the EMV leaders expected are Europay, Mastercard and Visacard.
This 2008 EMV Summit is the first of its kind in the Smartcard Industry in West Africa . Working with other industry leaders such as Smartsoft (Turkey), IDtronics (Germany), Inplasto (Sweden), Sogedex (Paris), Hologram Industries (France), ASIS (Turkey), etc KONNECTRONICS seeks to provide the platform through which key players in e-payment solution can set a common standard for this emerging market of the Nigerian economy. This conference is also an avenue for international solution providers to interact with local interests with a view of helping to develop the local market. It is also an avenue for customers to participate in defining solutions parameters for their problems.
The Technical facilitator is Mr. Erdal Yazmaci (MD/CEO) from Smartsoft of Turkey the EMV Migration European Award winner for 2006/2007. Other presenters include Bashorun J. K. Randle, the Chairman of Konnectronics Ltd. He is the former ICAN President, Pro-chancellor of Lagos State University, ex-KPMG Chairman/CEO, Eko Hotels & Suites Chairman, etc; Mr. Gavin Young of UBA Plc with over 15 years experience in Smartcards, Nicholas Haignere Sales Engineer from Sogedex in Paris , France , Mr. Bukar Kyari, MD/CEO of Valucard Nigeria Plc (VisaCard Processor in Nigeria) and Mitchell Elegbe MD/CEO of Interswitch Limited. The plenary sessions will be chaired by Emma Abugu, Executive Director of BankPHB Plc, while the chairman of the Summit is the CEO of the most innovative and excellent service bank in Nigeria . Representatives of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) among others are expected at the occasion.
In the last three years KONNECTRONICS has achieved the following hallmarks among which are the West Africa Best Financial Card Services Company for the year 2007; First Nigerian Card Company to open a company in the UK; First Nigerian Card Company to be listed in European CardReview Magazine; First Nigerian Card Company to introduce Smartcard Radio; First Nigerian Card Company to have over 20 banks as clients (post consolidation); First Nigerian Card Company to introduce world-class metallic card; and lastly, we will be the first Nigerian Card Company to Organize an EMV summit in West Africa.
