Harare — IT'S not often that superstar Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi plays at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

It is equally rare for him to share the stage with his admirer Tongai Moyo and Sulumani Chimbetu.

But this is what is in store for fans this weekend.

What remains to be seen is whether the trio will fill the Aquatic Complex, which over the years had become the preserve for Alick Macheso and the Charambas. Tuku is out to prove wrong some of his critics who have long concluded the musician had ended his romance with local promoters.

For Tongai, playing to a huge crowd will certainly boost his confidence after successfully completing his chemotherapy three weeks ago. Sulumani is also expected to boost his profile by rubbing shoulders with some of the best in the field.

But for show promoter Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions, the Saturday gig will be nothing short of a get-together.

"As a stable, we felt it was noble that we bring big guns together and share the stage at a spacious venue. Besides being a 'must-attend' gig, we also want to set records as a stable that we can deliver a varied show. For instance, our line-up is also of varied performers and people will certainly get value for their money," he said.

Chimbodza, who at the beginning of the year organised a successful boozers tournament for musicians and journalists, said his stable was keen to bring Zimbabwe's celebrities closer to the people.

"As promised at the boozers tournament that we wanted our celebrities to relate with their followers, we are certainly championing that. Time permitting, we will create a facility where fans will have an opportunity to have their autographs signed," he said.
