The Sierra Leone medical and dental association (SLMDA) after 33 years of existence would be holding its mid year congress in Makeni this year, expected to commence on May 30 through June 1, 2008.

The theme for this year's celebration is, "improving the health of women and children".

There would also be a symposium on the topic "medical malpractice in Sierra Leone with emphasis on counterfeit drugs and mushroom clinics".

This year, the association has chosen the exotic surroundings of the Ultra Modern 'APEX' hotel structure to host this auspicious occasion.

"We are appealing to all MEDICO's-Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dispensers to please make it a point of duty to beat Makeni between May 30 and June1 2008," a statement from the association states.
