The pioneer Cameroon Christian University, CCU a product of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon,P.C.C took root on May 17,2008 with the foundation stone laid by the PCC Moderator, the Rt. Rev Nyansako Ni Nku.
The clocks stroke 2:20 pm when the specially designed stone was laid with God as the caretaker. It was a day for the Church when the Moderator said the C.C..U project is the beginning of an institution conceived as a special contribution to education in Cameroon and anglo saxon education in the Central African Sub region. In a society with fewer God fearing men and women the C.C.U Vision involves the training of students with an eternal love for service to humanity in a University planned to be the cradle of excellence. Against this backdrop, the Moderator said that in planting the C.C.U main campus in Bali, the P.C.C is consisted with history. He appealed for all to discard dissenting voices, parochial considerations and tribal antagonism and see a bigger picture which is the P.C.C working together for the glory of God.
The foundation stone carried with it a Holy Bible, a church hymnary, coins, palm oil, minutes of the P.C.C Synod creating the C.C.U and newspapers carrying C.C.U stories. The pass word at the event was that unless God builds the church, Labourers do so in vain. In The background of rumours and controversies surrounding some opposition to the acquisition of land for the project, the Bali Nyongha fondom mobilised traditional blessings. In effect, His Majesty Dr. Doh Gayongha said Bali is a vehicle for hope for those yearning for education. Gwanyalla Raymond, the Mayor is a believer that the planting of the C.C.U in Bali is a divine decision from heaven and God's response to the people of Cameroon who have been crying for more opportunities in education. He saluted the Fon and people of Bali for sacrifices to take the project forward while the Bali Cultural and Development Association, BANDECA offered cfa 2.000.000 for the project.
Dr. Lukunze Edward, Secretary of the Committee for the establishment of the C.C.U said the P.C.C is an old partner with the government with institutions that deliver quality education, good citizenship, good governance and economic growth. The event fetched close to cfa 19 million francs with Prof. Mathew Gwanfogbe as the President of the Committee for the Foundation Stone and Prof. Sammy Beban Chumbow as the Chairman of the Committee for the establishment of the University. There were special prayers for all to be part of the project.
