The executive committee of the Confederation of African Football, CAF met in Yaounde on Sunday, 18 May 2008 under the presidency of President Issa Hayatou. The conclave ended the series of meetings of the Confederation of African Football, which started on the 16th of May in Cameroon.

The Executive Committee expressed satisfaction with the engagement taken by the Ivorian government to organise the African Championship, CHAN, which will come up in the month of February 2009. CAF exhorted the organising committee to work hard so as to finish the preparations in time. The competition will be organised in two towns Abidjan, and the economic capital Bouake.

CAF Executive Committee noted with satisfaction the state of advancement of work in Angola in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010. The Confederation of African Football dispatched an inspection team in May to evaluate the state of sports infrastructure to host the competition. The next visit was slated for July 2008 in Angola.

CAF equally altered the period for the award of prizes to meritorious sportsmen which will henceforth take place before the end of December each year. The Executive Committee also approved a new article on television productions. The article stipulates that onwards CAF would be involved in the choice of the company to do television production during the final phase of the African Cup of Nations. Committee members also adopted a resolution to organise a futsal competition every two years.

The CAF executive committee members equally took time off to visit the sports complex under construction in Yaounde. "I want to sincerely thank CAF and it's president for giving our country this centre of excellence which falls in line with the programme to develop sports infrastructure in Cameroon", said Augustin Thierry Edjoa during the opening ceremony of the executive committee meeting. Two other such centres are under construction in Senegal and Ethiopia. The centre in Cameroon is expected to be completed by July this year, whereas the one in Senegal will be completed in January 2009 and Ethiopia, August, 2008.
