Lagos — National Business And Technical Examinatins Board (NABTEB) has threatened to deal decisively with anybody found to be involved in any form of malpractice including its staff and students as it begins its May/June 2008 Examinations.

It also disclosed that it has recorded a 6.5 per cent increase in the number of students that enroled for the examination this year over last year's figure.

Registrar of the Board, Professor David Awanbor told newsmen in Benin weekend that this year's examination would be held in 630 centres across the country even as he said that 45,000 candidates would be sitting for the examination which started today.

"This is to sound a strong note of warning to all candidates, officials and custodians engaged in the conduct of our May/June NBC/NTC examinations to steer clear of misconduct in all its ramifications because anybody found wanting would be made to face the full wrath of the law."

"Therefore, touts, wards, parents, principals, teachers, school proprietors and other agents of examination malpractice are advised to steer clear of NABTEB examination centres ... the punishment for examination malpractice in NABTEB is outright summary dismissal for staff and prosecution for erring candidates and officials engaged in the conduct of the board;s examinations", he warned.

According to Prof Awanbor, NABTEB had recorded the least cases of examination malpracticesn when compared to other Examination bodies in the country.

Awanbor said the board was committed to complement the efforts of the Federal Government in laying a solid foundation for technological development as captured in the baord's mission and vission hence its zero tolerance for corruption.
