A 32-year-old man Musa Isah has been arrested in Zaria, Kaduna State, for allegedly raping an 82-year-old woman, Malama Salamatu Idris, to death at Tudun Wada.
The police area commander, Alhaji Shehu Usman, confirmed the incident on phone, saying that the accused person was arrested after he escaped to Lagos for the past one year.
Shehu explained that Isah had confessed and provided necessary information about the rape, saying that after investigations, he would be charged to court.
The suspect told the police that he lived with the late Salamatu in the same compound at Tudun Wada.
"It was a one-night act, the devil deceived me and I slept with her", he said explaining further that after sleeping with her, he left her in a pool of her blood after which neighbours took the old woman to hospital for treatment where she later died.
Isah told the police that he had to flee to Lagos when people started accusing him of being responsible for the death of Salamatu.
"Unfortunately, I returned when I thought everything was over, only to be arrested by the police", he added.
