Harare — Accredidation of observers and journalists to cover the presidential run-off and three by-elections starts on June 2 and will run until election day on June 27.
In a statement yesterday, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission deputy chief elections officer (operations) Mr Utloile Silaigwana said accreditation would start at 9am and end at 5pm everyday at Bulawayo and Harare polytechnic colleges. Local observers would be required to pay an accreditation fee of $1 billion each but local journalists do not pay any fee. Observers from the Sadc region and Africa will pay US$100 a person while observers and journalists from outside Africa will pay US$300 each. Applicants for accreditation will be required to produce proof of invitation from relevant ministries.
Meanwhile, nomination courts for the three by-elections to be held concurrently with the presidential run-off election in Gwanda South, Pelandaba-Mpopoma and Redcliff House of Assembly constituencies will sit this morning at the Magistrates' Courts, Fifth Avenue, Gwanda, the Magistrates' Courts, Tredgold Building, Leopold Takawira Bulawayo and the Magistrates' Courts, Main Street respectively.
