Geneva — The policy developed by the Angolan government in the fields of science, technology and innovation, received praises from the countries that attended the United Nations conference that ends on Friday, held in Geneva (Switzerland).
The document presented Thursday by the assistant minister of the country's Premier, Aguinaldo Jaime, in light of the United Nations assessment, outlines the progresses registered in Angola in the last years, in various sectors of the national life, after many decades of war.
It is highlighted the speeches of the representatives from Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria, Portugal and China, that besides considering the report very clear, encourages the Angolan government to proceed with its efforts.
They manifested the hope that Angola put in practice a strategic and ambitious project in the chapter of science, technology and innovation, having emphasised the efforts made by the government, after the achievement of peace in 2002, with a view to improving the well being of the population.
They also mentioned the levels that have been achieved in various sectors of society, especially in the economy, as well as the process of national reconstruction in progress and the growth in the fields of oil, diamonds and human capital.
According to the speakers, the positive progresses obtained by Angola should be used as example to African countries that are emerging from armed conflicts that need international aid for the preservation of the national independence.
However the officials recognised that the war that ravaged the country is on the basis of the backwardness of the Angola, still they predict that the objectives of the millennium will be achieved, at the same time that they highlighted the collaboration of this country with the UNDP and the UN.
Angola was chosen by the United Nation for the assessment of its policy in the sectors of science, technology and innovation, due to the important progresses that it has been achieving in the rehabilitation of its economy.
