Abuja — Chelsea hitman, Didier Drogba, has been left out of Cote d'Ivoire's squad for tomorrow's opening World Cup qualifier because of injury, the Ivorien Football Federation has disclosed.
Though no details was given of the injury but the Chelsea striker joins Aruna Dindane and Gneri Yaya Toure on the sidelines for the African zone Group G match against Mozambique in Abidjan.
Drogba's last game was the UEFA Champions' League final against Manchester United in Moscow where he was sent off in extra time.
Racing Lens striker, Dindane, was ruled out for the next six months after suffering a knee ligament rupture in France's Ligue 1 at the start of the month while Barcelona midfielder, Toure, underwent back surgery at the end of the Spanish season.
New Cote d'Ivoire coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, has included Arsenal defender, Kolo Toure, who missed two warm-up friendlies in Japan, and handed a first call up to Dunfermline defender, Souleymane Bamba.
