Nigeria: UAE, UK Investors Visit Calabar to Explore Oil, Gas Potential

Investors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and from the United Kingdom have arrived in Cross River to explore the potential in the oil and gas sector.

The member representing Obudu constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Jerry Agba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar that the investors would also explore opportunities in the tourism sector.

Agba, who is also the promoter of the tour, said that it was part of his function to market the state as a representative of his people.

"Much of what Cross River needs to ensure growth in the economy can only be achieved if we have foreign investors to explore opportunities in all sectors of our economy," he said.

The lawmaker said that it was the responsibility of all the people of the state to attract foreign investments that would be beneficial to their communities.

He said that foreign investments would bring expertise that would in turn stimulate growth and development in the economy of the state.

Agba expressed optimism that the visit of the team, which coincides with the Tinapa Expo, would help showcase the operations of Tinapa.

"Cross River is blessed, so I believe the team will explore areas of tourism, oil and gas, solid mineral and other available opportunities," he said.

Agba called on the private sector to be involved in marketing the state to achieve significant progress and sustainability.
