Abidjan — Angola President, José Eduardo dos Santos, was last weekend distinguished, in Abidjan, by the Ivorian Organisation of the Union Pastors for Peace and Development (OPAD), with the reward "Peace Winners".
With this distinction, the OPAD recognises the contribute given by the Angolan Head of State in favour of peace in Côte d'Ivoire with the signature of the agreement of Ougadougou in March of 2007.
The referred religious organisation that rewarded also the presidents Blaise Compaore (Burkina Faso), Thabo Mbeke (South Africa) and Mohamad Kadaffi (Libia), intends with this initiative to create an "enthusiastic" scene that might contribute for the preservation of what has been achieved with the peace in Côte d'Ivoire, as well as stimulate Ivorian citizens to follow the example of the distinguished personalities.
The reward was received by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Angolan Embassy to Côte d'Ivoire, Ange rdo Mengowako, due to absence of the ambassador, Gilberto Buta Lutucuta.
