Harare — FIVE armed robbers stormed into a house in Belvedere, Harare and looted household property worth nearly $700 trillion, last weekend.
The armed robbers pounced on Ms Rudo Matando after she woke up around midnight to get books she had left in her car parked outside the house.
On her way to the garage, five armed robbers wielding a pistol and a knife sprung from the dark and pounced on her. They force-marched Ms Matando into her house where they demanded that she leads them to her bedroom.
The thugs tied her hands and legs with an electric cord and threatened to kill her if she screamed.
They ransacked the house and looted mainly electric gadgets including a home theatre, two mobile phones, two colour television sets and a microwave.
Jewellery, an over-locking machine, a sewing machine, a computer and $12 billion were also stolen.
The robbers proceeded to the kitchen where they looted various groceries from the pantry, a bunch of keys, an alarm remote control and a gate remote control.
They loaded their loot into a truck and fled.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau confirmed the armed robbery.
