Tanzania: Kinondoni And Kagera Teams in Copa Coca Cola Opener

Copa Coca Cola cup holders, Kinondoni opens their title defense against Kagera Region in a match to be played at Karume Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

According to Tanzania Football Federation information officer Florian Kaijage, the kick off time has been set for 16:00 local time.

Teams have been categorized into groups as follows: Group A has Kinondoni, Kagera, Manyara, Tanga, Mwanza, Dodoma and Mara.

Group B has Ilala, Pwani, Iringa, Zanzibar Urban West, Rukwa, Kilimanjaro and Shinyanga.

Teams in group C are Morogoro, Mbeya, Singida, Ruvuma, Tabora, Arusha and Kigoma, while group D has Temeke, Mtwara, South Pemba, Lindi, North Unguja, North Pemba and South Unguja.

Most of the competing teams are expected in Dar es Salaam this week before the grand opener at the weekend.

Beside Karume Memorial Stadium, three other venues will be used in the championship.

They are Mabibo Hostel, National Stadium and University of Dar es Salaam.

After the opening match on Sunday, Group B teams of Ilala and Coast Region are expected to lock horns on the following day at a venue to be announced later by the organisers.

While Magomeni will play against Mbeya, Temeke faces Mtwara on the same day.

Coca-Cola marketing manager Carol Mbaga said the most outstanding 16 youths will be selected for exposure and motivation in Brazil at the end of the tournament.

The organisers have set aside Sh4.5 million for the winner and Sh3 million for losing finalist and third placed team will get Sh2 million.

Half million shillings has been set aside for each of the most outstanding player, top scorer, goalkeeper and highly disciplined team.
